Frequently asked questions

I’m having issues with my CPAP mask and need help. Who should I contact?

The home medical equipment supplier – the store where you picked up your CPAP mask and machine – is responsible for providing you with ongoing clinical support, including answering any questions and helping you resolve any mask comfort or fitting issues that you may be experiencing. Getting used to a mask can be challenging and there may be a different mask option that will work better for your personal comfort needs, so don’t hesitate to reach out!
Not sure who your medical equipment supplier is? We can help. Fill out our Contact Us form or call us at 1-800-424-0737.

How do I clean my mask and how often should I clean it?

You should clean the cushion, including the QuietAir diffused venting daily. The headgear, frame and elbow only require weekly cleaning. Facial oil and dirt can easily build up on your mask parts when they’re not cleaned properly, which can lead to skin irritation. The good news? Cleaning your mask doesn’t take long, so working it into your morning routine should be a breeze.

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR MASK

Supplies you’ll need to clean your mask:

  1. Sink or tub

  2. Warm, drinking-quality water (86°F / 30°C)

  3. Mild liquid detergent

  4. Towel

Step-by-step cleaning tips:

  1. Unplug your CPAP machine from the power source and disconnect your mask/tubing from your machine.

  2. Disassemble your mask:

    1. Undo the fastening tabs on the upper headgear straps and pull the headgear from the frame. Keep the magnetic clips attached to the lower headgear straps. After detaching the headgear, close the fastening tabs to prevent them from damaging the fabric sleeves when handling.

    2. Squeeze the side buttons on the elbow and detach from the frame.

    3. Grip the frame connector and lift to unclip the frame from the cushion. Repeat on the other side.

  3. Soak the components in warm water with a mild liquid detergent. Ensure that there are no air bubbles while soaking.

  4. Hand wash the components in water. There is no need to use a brush.

  5. Thoroughly rinse the components under running water. If the sleeve on the frame becomes twisted, it can be repositioned when wet.

  6. Squeeze the fabric components to remove excess water.

  7. Leave the components on the towel to air dry out of direct sunlight.

Refer to the product user guide for complete instructions.

Can I use an ozone device to clean my Resmed mask?

Ozone or UV light products2 have not been validated for use with the mask. Use of ozone or UV light products may discolor or damage a Resmed mask during the Resmed limited warranty period and that will not be covered. Discoloration or damage of Resmed masks are only covered during the limited warranty period if they occur upon initial unpackaging.

How often should I replace mask parts?

Different parts require replacement at varying intervals. Taking care of your CPAP equipment is important, especially those parts which can be affected by dirt, oil and residue from your skin. Poorly cleaned CPAP masks may cause discomfort and skin irritation.
